Long Story Short...

I woke up early Wednesday April 25th feeling like my water was starting to break and ran in the bathroom.  I was loosing a lot of blood in what I figured was my water breaking so Bryan and I got dressed and hurried up to the hospital around 2am.  A few hours later I was already to 8cm when my nurse told me that she was sure now that my water in fact hadn't broken yet and I was just loosing a lot of blood.  I was scared I was bleeding out I had lost so much blood!  My placenta had torn off the wall and was causing me to bleed but with my labor moving so fast it was faster to just deliver me then to do anything else.  I can't imagine how fast my labor would have been had my water actually broke.  It was only like 45 minutes later I was complete (with my water still not broken) and they called my dr. to come in and deliver me.  He broke my water and I started pushing.  10-15 minutes later Brett David Palmer was born at 7:29 weighing a whopping (for being born at 36 weeks) 7 lb 7oz.  I couldn't believe it!  He was a couple of pounds bigger then I thought he would be.  He was considered what they called late pre-term but he was still a premie. Bryan and I were so worried about how well he would do being born this early we didn't get any video or pictures for the first 20 minutes or so not wanting to have video or anything of him struggling.  He really didn't cry at all when he was born which scared me really bad.  I kept looking at Bryan trying to see if he thought he was ok but I could tell he was a little panicked too. He sounded awful at first but was able to breath just fine on his own.
You can kind of see that the scale says 7lb 7 oz- it's the first picture of our little guy.
Usually my babies open their eyes after they were born but Brett pretty much had his eyes closed for all but a few minutes while I held him.

Brett with our dr.  Brett Horsley- he was content to be delivering another Brett.
I finally got to hold him in what seemed like forever.  We had a good snuggle for awhile.

First bath
Stockton was getting a cold so Bryan just brought up my older boys to see him.  They could hold and talk to him all day!

Blake and Stockton were born with blonde hair and tyson with a tiny bit of darker hair but nothing like Brett!  Bryan keeps teasing me about the mail man coming over.  Until you look at his face and see his Palmer nose that is.

The boys with Grandpa Palmer
We never got a family picture in the hospital because of Stock being a little sick so this pic is the best I got.

Bryan had two final projects/test/presentations the day after Brett was born and that with work and helping with my other boys meant he wasn't at the hospital very much with me.  He came as much as he possibly could but it was just the craziest time Brett could have been born ever. So I got a lot of alone time with the baby.

Brett had blood sugar issues the whole time he was at the hospital.  He had to get his heel pricked every three hours to test it.  It would be good then it would go way down then back up then down the whole time.  Finally he got two good tests in a row and they left his feet alone.  It was hard to go through that alone at the hospital.  Brett was so sleepy that he was really hard to feed and I had to kind of force formula down him.  When he woke up he ate way good but would fall asleep before he was done.  SO GRATEFUL for him being premie that he never had to go the NCIU.  He was really, really close but I got to keep him with him the whole time.
I hate how fat I look in this picture but Brett looks cute so I posted it.

A rare photo of his eyes open at the hospital.

We are just so, so grateful that Brett is doing so well and is so healthy!  He could have had so many problems being born a month early but he has done so well! He is the biggest sweetheart and so far is a very, very content baby.  He doesn't fuss much and when he does a hug from mom or dad makes him feel better.  Bryan and I are totally smitten with him.  I'm so happy my little surprise baby is here and that he is mine!

A baby story

I just wrote up the whole birth story on our little guy on my pregnancy blog I was keeping for Brett. It's http://outnumberedpalmers.blogspot.com/  it's private too so if you want to see it just send me your e-mail if it won't let you in.  I'll try to post some more pictures on here too but it's hard to find a couple of minutes to do that!

He's here!

Brett David Palmer was born at 7:29 am April 25th- at 36 weeks 3 days.  He was 7 lb 7 oz and 20 in.  Besides some problems with his blood sugar he has done so well!  He is the sweetest thing ever! More to come soon (if I survive 4 kids alone next week).

Hot tub time!

One of the things my kids love about my parents house is their hot tub.  Their new house doesn't have one but my dad is in the market for one he says.  Bryan loves it as much as my boys and I had fun taking lots of pictures of them in it. This was on Easter.
Look at Stock's face.  He was looking at Tyson.  I thought it was too funny.
 Tyson with my dad.

Ty is my fish. He loves to be in the water.  I'm excited for him to take swimming lessons this summer because he is so close to being able to swim.
Best buddies. I love how they are looking at each other.

One of my favorite things about my camera is that in the right light I can take three pictures per second.  That is how I get photo's like this one.  I LOVE it!
Stockton wasn't a fan of the floaty toy.

Easter 2012

Every year my mother in law does a Easter hunt with a ton of candy in her backyard. I was worried when I woke up Friday morning to a few inches of SNOW in the yard.  We always do Easter stuff Saturday with the Palmers so I was wondering how it was going to work with so much snow.  It warmed up so much the next morning that I even got  sunburned in her backyard Saturday. We had lunch first then the candy hunt after so it had warmed up a lot by then and all the snow was gone.  Debbie (my MIL) invited her brother and his 6 kids to it too.  My next baby is grandchild #20 in Bryan's family so we are getting a big group of kids! Stockton was fun to watch because he would find a candy and try to eat it wrapper and all.  He kind of got it after awhile.  He was happy with his little fists full of half chewed candy anyway.  Blake and Ty don't need much help filling their baskets.  We are still enjoying the fruits of their labors a few days later.  They had a fun afternoon playing with their cousins.  Stockton wanted to be with all of the older kids doing whatever they were doing most of the afternoon. When the kids were playing soccer Stockton wanted to play with them and he would try to run after them.
My boys and I- and my fat pregnant face.  Ugh.
The Easter bunny left his usual treasure hunt for the boys Sunday morning.  Ty was up at like 6:45 saying the sun was up and he was ready to look for his basket. I held him off until just before 8 when all the boys were up so they could do it together.  They love having a treasure hunt. They kept trying to look downstairs for the clues but I knew they would find their baskets too soon so I'm going to have to rethink where I hide them next year.

Cheesy smile with his Easter basket.  He got some cars 2 cars he had been wanting since his birthday so he was really excited.
Blake is REALLY getting into Star Wars (he told me he all of the  sudden hates batman.) He got a star wars action figure he carries around the house and looses at least 5 times a day.

My boys- Bryan felt that a shotgun was needed for this picture.
I got them this cute shirts for Easter- they all got some plaid shorts that match their shirts kind of like Stockton's.  I didn't think they were good for church for the older boys but they had them on later that day.
Bryan isn't really big into getting his pictures taken all the time but he likes a good picture with his favorite people. I just keep thinking how crazy it will be soon to have 4 little boys in this picture.  I still can't believe I'm going to have 4 kids and they are all boys.

We headed to Layton for Easter dinner after church to be with my family.  My parents put together a little easter egg hunt and since Debbie's hunt is just candy on the grass this was a fun change of pace.  They loved looking for all of the eggs.  Even Stockton kind of got into it.
A RARE photo of all my boys looking in the same direction together! They have the shorts I bought them all on too.  I even got a outfit to match for my new baby so they all will match.  Hey if I will never  buy a little girl a Easter dress I can do this right?

Ty helped us make Monster easter eggs. Blake kind of helped us but the smell of the vinegar made him run away.

Stockton 17 months

I feel like ever since I found out I was pregnant Stockton has grown up really fast. He is always doing stuff that cracks us all up.

He is still daddy's boy.  He doesn't really say a lot still but he listens a lot.  If he sees anyone getting ready to leave the house he grabs his socks and shoes and brings them to me so he can go with.
We were eating ice cream the other night and he grabbed one of my tupperware bowls and went up to my dad whining that he wanted some.
Stockton is really into shoes- it doesn't matter whose shoes they are either.  He was walking around my kitchen the other day like this.
No one loves singing time in Family Home Evening as much as Stockton.  He really gets into it!  We were singing head, shoulders, knees and toes and he points to his head feet and face when we sing it.  He likes to stand on this little stool he is sitting on and likes to look out the window. We have been outsides a lot! He really loves our sandbox and tramp.
If Bryan is on the lawn mower Stockton thinks he needs to be too.  Any machinery Bryan is working with Stock needs to be right with them.
He really loves his brothers- Ty spends extra attention to him and he loves them.  If they are laying on the floor he climbs on them to wrestle. He likes to wake Ty in the morning.  He will give hugs to them too. The other day he wanted a cookie so I gave him a piece, he walked over to my carpet and crumbled it up. He is a handful and a sweetheart wrapped into one.
