If you know my family very well you know we love leaving Utah in January and heading to California for some sunshine! We decided to make this trip longer and stay at couple of different places and not just around Disneyland.
Day one we headed to St. George where I found a little hotel to stay on our way down. We pulled the kids out of school a little early and left on our trip!
Our hotel wasn't the best but it did have a hot tube. The pool was nice but freezing! We bribed the other two boys to jump in then run to the hot tube. I can't believe they did that. The next morning we got up and headed to California! It was a Saturday. Our dang car started making noises not long after we left. We had just gotten new belts on it and they were squealing so bad. After a lot of prayers we made it to Mesquite and found a kind mechanic who for like $20 bucks tightened the belt for us. I was so thankful! There is a lot of area out in the middle of nowhere and it would have been scary to be broken down.
We pulled in to Newport California at like 3- the drive took forever! My kids were dying. Ty went in with me to check into our Villa. They weren't ready for us yet so we drove just down the road to Crystal Cove state park.
Ty sent this to Bryan while we were checking in. He had no idea how nice this place was and thought it was a fake picture! This is the main pool area.
After being stuck in freezing cold Cache Valley for months and being in the car for two days my boys absolutely loved being out in the sunshine at the beach! We weren't dressed for it since we had just come from St. George but that didn't stop my kids from having fun.
Out in the ocean were these two pirate looking ships. No joke! They were even shooting "canons" at each other. It must have been a dinner cruise thing or something. We kept telling East to look at the pirate ships in the ocean!
Maybe my fav family picture ever.
That evening we checked into our HUGE villa. It was like 1200 sq feet. Two bedrooms, a living room with a pull out and a little kitchen. Their were two bathrooms too and the master bath had a huge tub. That night we drove up the road to a shopping complex to get some dinner. I had the best hamburger I've ever had in my life. I went to the grocery store to grab a little bit of food and was surprised how different it was then at home. Everything is organic and crap. Their was a whole huge area just for wine. I only was allowed TWO plastic bags for my groceries. You can have California government.
