When I plan a trip I pretty much do it all by myself. I ask the kids what they want to do and get their feedback. But no one helps me find places to stay and flights etc. Heck I even help pack most of the kids so they bring enough clothes. This trip I played around a lot with where we could stay. I literally spent hours and hours researching where we could stay. I finally decided to stay a place a little more south than I had planned just so we could stay right next to the water. And it was so worth it.
First because we had to check out and had some time to kill we went to Disney springs (like downtown Disney) so Brett could go to the lego store. It was huge! We parked on the wrong end though and had to do a ton of walking. And it was so hot. It would say it was 95 degrees but with the humidity it was 110. I believe it.
Brett ended up saving up and getting this lego set later in the summer.
Driving through Florida. We went down the middle of the state and it was pretty ugly not going to lie. Boring drive.
We made it to Port Charlotte! We spent the rest of the day at our VRBO rental. A house right off Charlotte Harbor with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. A big kitchen and living room as well. Of course it had its own pool! All the pools in Florida are screened in. Not only that but a garage filled with things we may need like kayaks and fishing gear. Which was such a blessing because we had some fishing stuff but couldn't bring all they needed. So the older boys went right to fishing and the little ones went right into the pool. It felt like a real vacation to just relax by the pool and let the kids fish. They took the kayaks up and down the canal into the harbor too.
Stockton found some live crabs around too.
Most of the fish they caught in the canal were types of catfish or something like that. Into the harbor Ty caught some trout looking fish. They are going to tease me that I have no idea what type of fish they were exactly.
Ty scared me because he went out on that little kayak to fish. Of course with a lifejacket but still. Because while we were fishing we saw a freaking shake in the harbor. No joke. While he was on his little kayak he saw some sharks out in the water by him too.
Ty on the harbor with the fish he caught. This is where he killed his cell phone out in the sun. It literally fried in cell phone.
